March 29, 2004 - As many of you are already aware, we made the decision to end Kit's suffering last Saturday. Kit was feline leukemia positive her whole life, and it finally caught up with her. We were amazed at how quickly she went from being so full of life, love, and general kitty mischief to a very sick kitty. She really didn't have a chance the way it hit her. The miracle is Lisa decided when she got her at about 6 months of age that she wanted to keep her in spite of her diagnosis, and we had seven long and extremely healthy years with her. She really was the sweetest cat I've ever known, she slept in the crook of my arm every night (that was the first sign something was wrong, she stopped sleeping with me) and I will dearly miss my "Miss Wiggins". Lisa and I will share some pictures and stories with you as soon as I return next week from a business trip to Salt Lake City. In the meantime, enjoy those beautiful green eyes. (Picture archived)
March 23, 2004 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALEX!!! Without a doubt one of the most important days in history, this marks the 32nd anniversary of the birth of Alex. Happy birthday, my friend. You're a blessing to me.
(Picture archived) Alex and Sid / Lisa and Alex
March 21, 2004 - Oh the sadness, the end of another too rare and too short weekend. We had a wonderful time this weekend with Alex and her family in Terlingua. I'll give you the whole story with the pictures. Check out the "Backyard Zoo" for two new columns, and of course the "News" section for the latest and greatest of what's Lame in the world. Also check out charlesroe.net, I'm sure he's done some work this weekend. Be sure and catch Parker's newest web page.
March 15, 2004 - Yawn, I'm tired. We had a great weekend with our cousins (that's right, you're mine now - get used to it!). I'll describe more later when I can keep my eyes open. Check out today's news section for some stupid stuff. I have two new Backyard Zoo's (one looks pretty disturbing, although socially important) and obviously tons (or "tonnes", for you anglophiles) of pictures to post. We'll see.
March 12, 2004 - Check out the news section to see the new TV and bookcase. We're on our way to meet up with Kathy and the kids and Lisa's Mom, we might go to the Alamo! March 10, 2004 - More news, these are pretty bizarre. Speaking of bizarre, Lisa had a dream last night that Charlize Theron cut off Johnny Depp's fingers with the assumption someone else was going to kill him. He returned to shoot Charlize. I had a dream that I bought an electric toothbrush, and I really liked it. We're having salmon, rice, and corn (on the cob, of course) for dinner.
From the Red Corner - Comrade Alex is a little disappointed in the lack of criticism of his terse reply to Mysterious Jason's review of Lord of the Rings. It was terribly terse and communist, and I think we all agree Comrade Alex should be called on it. Email Comrade Alex at comradealex@hotmail.com and give him a piece of your mind. Feel free to debate him on the failures of communist around the world. While you're at it, email me at sid@sidandlisa.net. Let me know you're out there!
March 5, 2004 - Another very slight update, check out the Lame News section (above). I'd write more but I'm sleepy. March 2. 2004 - Behold, a Lame News Update. Don't forget to visit www.charlesroe.net often, he's done some updating of his own (check "stories").
March 1 ,2004 - We had a great time watching the Oscars last night with Charles and Cecelia and Olivia, in spite of the lack of suspense with the awards. We had a nice "Tapas" style meal with everything you can image (I'll go in to it later when it's not midnight). I have lots and lots of new pictures and some fun things for your enjoyment, I'll try and do a "News" update this week.
February 29, 2004 - Happy bonus leap day everyone! We've taken advantage to post a rare back-to-back set of updates. Today we present Lame Wedding Pictures Part 3 / Round 1 - The People! Visit the pictures section to view. Lisa watched and I half watched "Pirates of the Caribbean" last night, Lisa says it sucked (Mysterious Jason liked it?). I concur, I've rarely been so uninterested in a swashbuckler. Lisa says see "Master and Commander - the Far Side of the World" instead. February 28, 2004 - One day to the Academy Awards! In celebration, the Lame Web Page is proud to present our first ever offering of reviews for all five Best Picture nominees. Please visit the "Movies" section tomorrow so you'll be prepared for the big event. I would also like to note that Comrade Alex presents his terse reply to Mysterious Jason's review of the Lord of the Rings. As always, the Lame Web Page enjoys and encourages such stimulating discussion. Mysterious Jason, please consider this an open invitation for a scathing reply of your own, of which I will happily post on the Lame Web Page.
Now to work on the Wedding and Honeymoon pictures. Someday, you will see them.
February 25, 2004 - Well, I didn't work on the pictures tonight. I went to the store after work and made turkey chili Frito pie for dinner. Then Lisa and I got some hot chocolate at 7-11 to celebrate the return of winter and sat in the car for a couple of hours. Now I'm too tired to do anything. On a more technical Lame Web Page note, let me know if you have trouble viewing the wedding pictures - you have to have the Macromedia Flash plug-in installed. Come to think of it, if you can see this page you should be able to see the pictures... Hmmmm... Juliet, call me the next time you try to view them and we'll try and figure out what's going on.
February 23, 2004 - More wedding pictures in the "pictures" section, strangely enough.
February 22, 2004 - Wow, a whole week without writing anything! It was a busy one. Work is busy, Lisa was sick, not a good week for updating the Lame Web Page. I promise, I'll work on it today, I owe you wedding and honeymoon pictures. Lisa and I saw "Mystic River" yesterday, not bad at all. Expect a review before Oscar weekend. Congratulations to all you Bush the Younger supporters out there, I wonder how much the Republicans are paying Nader to run?
February 14, 2004 - Happy Valentine's Day everyone! BLIZZARD 2004! Drama, excitement, tension, you name it, Blizzard 2004 has got it. Check out the Lame News (click above) for a couple of picture from my parents, they're deep in it. In other news, we bought a TV. I'll bring you the exciting story tomorrow when we return from San Antonio.
February 9, 2004 - Check out "Pictures" for a preview of the format for upcoming Lame Wedding Pictures presentation. Please let me know if it doesn't work on your machine, it's in Flash.
Dang, our primary TV just fudge putzed. It sent a mad beam of brilliant white light directly into Lisa's eyes, then shut itself off. It's been a little goofy since Tool flooded his apartment and dripped water down the back. So the hunt begins for a new one. Consumer Reports says Sanyo's the best buy for the money, the only problem being NO ONE SELLS THEM. So Lisa will have to hunker down and "work" tomorrow and do some serious research.
Look at the Lame Movie Reviews for a new review by the very mysterious "Jason". Comrade Alex, a staunch Peter Jackson / LOTR Films supporter will have a terse and scathing retort shortly.
February 7, 2004 - Is it Saturday night already? Lisa and I had a nice quiet day today. Slept in. She worked from noon to four, I went to the park, it was a beautiful day. We watched "World Poker Tour" and went to the Bakehouse and then sat in the car and drank hot chocolate. I fell asleep at nine with Kit on me. I work up at midnight with some mighty powerful heartburn and that's what leads me to now.
Check out the new "News" button above - visit often for the latest and greatest Lame news. I must have been in a bad mood when I did the last one, it's awfully grouchy. Make sure and check out the action photo of me and Charles.
Lisa and I have been working on wedding pics and will have some posted tomorrow. I'll also have three new Backyard Zoos and a review of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy by the mysterious "Jason".
February 2, 2004 - **** MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE BREAST **** It's Lame Web Page family member Tery's birthday today! Big ol' 41 years. I can't believe it's been a year since we all celebrated in Vegas. Happy birthday Tery!!!
February 2, 2004 - **** IMPORTANT **** NATIONAL EMERGENCY **** - Dear Lame Web Page readers, as a service to you, the Lame public, I feel I should alert you to a terrible incident that has shocked our great nation. Ladies and gentlemen, a breast - yes, one breast - has been spotted on NATIONAL TV. The exposure lasted as much as 2 seconds. This is more shocking than my German Cannibal story and accompanying animation. What will the impact be on our society? God save our children. More as this story unfolds...
February 1, 2004 - Greeting Lame Web Readers! Lisa and I have been culling through thousands of wedding pictures in search of those worthy of real estate on the Lame Web Page. I was hoping to have some more posted tonight, we'll see, it's getting late. And the Super Bowl's tied at 29-29, so perhaps I should watch the last few minutes.
Anyway, check out a really sick story in today's news. Do not neglect to enjoy the disgusting animation I made of the man himself. Notice he'll eat anyone, regardless of race, political belief, or acting ability.
January 26, 2004 - Oooo, I'm bad. I played hooky today from work. Ok, not all day, just this afternoon. I generally feel worse in the afternoon than in the morning. No more goofing off, time to hit it hard tomorrow. FYI - a couple of minor updates. Visit the "Pictures" section for the South Padre pics (finally) and a couple from the wedding and honeymoon (a teaser so to speak). There's a new movie review from Charles, and an update of the Lame News.
January 25, 2004 - Sick. I'm sick. I think it's just a cold. I can't hear, I have a fever, and I feel 10 feet tall in the rare event I stand up. Back to bed!
January 20, 2004 - Possibly the most Lame development in the history of the Lame Web Page - the index is entirely flash-based! This should result in a faster load time, and most importantly, more lame. Also, the Lame Web Page is now low-carb. As for other updates, check out Lame News for some rumblings. I hope to have the South Padre pictures up soon (gee, is it already the middle of winter?) and then on to wedding and honeymoon pics.
The Lame Web Cam seems to be working, although we're having sporadic problems with our internet connection. I'll keep you posted.
January 15, 2004 - Greetings Lame Web Page readers. Some very exciting news - Charles has joined the ranks of "those with a webpage". Check out www.charlesroe.net for baby pictures, writings, links, and much more to come! Most definitely check out Parker Roe's section and the masterful Flash animations.
We're debuting a new feature here on the Lame Web Page. I call it "Lame News". Click to see what's happen in the world today along with insightful Lame commentary.
I'm getting worried that Comrade Alex is going to take harsh action against those not continuing to play "Guess the Communist". You have been warned.
January 12, 2004 - Finally, some update progress. Check out "The Backyard Zoo" for some new articles and a new format, consistent with the direction of the Lame Web Page. Lisa and I saw "Big Fish" last night, I'll get to a review shortly. In the meantime, do go see it. I'm chatting right now with Alex. Again, pretty amazing stuff.
January 9, 2004 - Lisa and I celebrated the lowering of the terror level to yellow by eating out. We met at the usual after work stop, Magnolia Cafe. Unfortunately, Lisa got us blacklisted so we can't go there for a while. Perhaps she'll elaborate. This webcam thing is the coolest thing in the world, when Roadrunner works. Right now, I can see Alex at work way out in California. And she can see me over here in Austin. And we can type messages to each other. It's like being in a James Bond movie. So Bush wants to send someone to Mars (probably Al Franken), I say "easy money, hometime". If Alex and I can communicate instantly across mountains and deserts and Midland and Odessa, then surely with Bush's "open wallet" policy NASA can have us up there by the November election. January 5, 2004 - Again, Happy New Year! Back to work, Lisa and I don't know how we'll survive a five-day work week, it's been so long. More updates in the "pictures" section, Lisa's 31st birthday, Lisa's wedding shower, and some of Charles and Cecelia's little Olivia. More soon, including some new Backyard Zoos I've been hoarding.
December 31, 2003 - OK, not quite there yet. Check out the "Movie Reviews" the picture's pretty funny. Left to right - Lisa, Dad, Comrade Alex, George Bush, and me. One review done, four more to go.
December 31, 2003 - Happy New Year! Lisa and I are playing it quiet this year, watching Dick Clark's ball drop at home.
December 28, 2003 - Happy Holidays from the Lame Web Page! Lisa and I had a very enjoyable and certainly busy Christmas holiday. We drove to Dallas Christmas morning, leaving a little bit early due to a malfunction alarm. We're still a little messed up by jetlag, so we're sleeping until about 9am without an alarm. We made it to Dallas just in time to swing by my parent's house before heading over to Ann's. We had Christmas dinner with the family, everyone brought or made food, and Tommy brought the best desserts you can imaging - cheesecakes, pies, cakes, and all very fancy and very good. That night we went over to Chris' and enjoyed leftover turkey and sat and told the tales of New Zealand and showed off wedding pictures to her and Matt. We're lucky to have many, many good pictures from guests at the wedding, we're also very lucky to have negatives and digital files from our guests, I'll be posting our guests pics for you to peruse and request as soon as possible (which will be a while!).
Friday we slept in a little and then went to Ann's to show her pictures and help my Dad load his truck with tables and chairs from dinner. Afterwards, we headed off to Stephanie's work to see her and see Alex. We surprised Alex at Borders where she was taking advantage of some after Christmas bargains. We had lunch at Einstein's with Alex and Stephanie and then went off with Alex to run some errands, which is always a blast. We decided to see a movie, so we saw "Elf". Alex had already seen it but wanted to see it again. Look for a movie review soon.
After the movie we headed to my parents to pick up some stuff and Alex got to see them. We then headed over to Julia and Paul's and looked at pictures and ate pizza. Julia and Paul just moved into a new apartment near the Addison airport, which of course I love because I love planes. The apartment is great, high ceilings, lots of space, good quality cabinets and fixtures. Really nice. Quent, Elizabeth, Alex, and Taylor were there also. I got to stare in awe at Julia's pantry, the organization had me mesmerized. Around midnight we headed out to drop Alex at her parent's and then went to my parent's for the night.
Saturday we slept in again (damn jetlag). Paula and Bob had an open house from 12:30 to 6:00 at their new house in Granbury. It's a log house, and is very unique to this new housing development, but it doesn't do it justice to call it a "log cabin". It's awesome, we have pictures and you'll be able to see those soon.
After the housewarming we met Alex's parents and my parents at Mario and Alberto's for some fine Mexican food. It was a lot of fun, Stephanie used her powers of persuasion to get us a round table so we could all talk. Lisa treated us to dinner, with the help of Alex's Albertson's card, which gets you a discount at Mario's for no apparent reason. We then went to Stephanie and Jim's to show pictures and open presents. Lisa and I scored big time with the presents.
Again, late to bed and late to rise. We got up today and went to breakfast at Barbec's, and then packed up our Christmas loot and headed back to Austin. We arrived home at about 3:45 and cleaned up a little and went to Katz's so Lisa could have some comfort food, she thinks she's getting sick again. Here's a quick explanation of the above names and how they relate, since I know I threw out a lot of them: Ann - my mom's cousin on her mother's side. Tommy- my mom's and Ann's cousin, also on my grandmother's side. Chris - Lisa's mom. Matt - Lisa's brother. Stephanie - Alex's mom. Alex - Sid and Lisa's über friend and Sid's best person at the wedding. Julia - Lisa's long time friend and Matron of Honor. Paul - Julia's husband. Elizabeth - Lisa's friend and Julia's sister. Quent - Elizabeth's husband. Alex and Taylor - Quent and Elizabeth's kids. Paula and Bob - Sid's aunt and uncle, Paula's my Dad's sister. Jim - Alex's dad. You'll have faces to put with the names when I've updated the wedding section.
And of course, don't forget to play the next iteration of Comrade Alex's "Guess the Communist" and start watching Comrade Alex's 64 of the 50 Greatest Films Since the Revolution. As if this webpage isn't Lame enough already, possibly coming soon, the debut of the Lame Web Cam! Thank you to Alex for getting me that, after figuring out how to find our wedding registry on Amazon.com. We'll see if I can figure it out (the cam, not Amazon). Again, happy holidays to all! - Sid
December 22, 2003 - Finished a minor update, check out the "Pictures" section for some new pics from Erin and from this fall. Coming soon are pictures from our South Padre trips, Lisa's 31st birthday, Lisa's Wedding shower, Little Olivia McCarty Mason Roe, and of course, our Wedding (waiting on those pictures, people!) and Sid and Lisa's New Zealand extravaganza. Don't forget it's time to check out Comrade Alex's Red Corner for a new "Guess the Communist" (3 for 1 special) and Comrade Alex's 64 of the 50 Greatest Films Since the Revolution. - Sid
December 20, 2003 - Hello Lame Web Page readers! Lisa and I have returned from a glorious 11 days in New Zealand. I'm working feverously to update the web page. Oh so much to show you, we've got lots of pictures from last summer and fall, and of course many from our Honeymoon. Not to mention some new Backyard Zoos, hopefully a couple of new movie reviews (we saw "Kill Bill", "Runaway Jury" and "Return of the King" while in NZ), and a very exciting update from Comrade Alex - Comrade Alex Presents Sixty-Four of the Greatest Fifty Films Since the Revolution". I'll send an email to the club when things have moved along. -Sid |
